Sympathetic Portrayal

Many images of the township fail to show the full scope and commercial aspect of the township.   The image shown on the right is an example of how the town is portrayed from the sympathetic lens of a protest supporter. It emphasises the “country” feel of the town without showing the full commercial nature of the main shopping strip of Tecoma!

However seen below, we have an image that gives a better impression of the main shopping precinct of Tecoma!

Now, lets look at an overhead representation (seen below) of the township of Tecoma. Within the YELLOW lines is the area as shown in the first image.  Then we have the areas within the RED lines which represents the majority of the area covered by commercial premises. There are several isolated businesses along both sides of Burwood Highway that are not individually marked. The area within the GREEN lines is Tecoma Primary School. Some would have you believe that the school is in immediate impact of the proposed site, but as can be seen, it is removed from the site and not DIRECTLY opposite as some would claim.

As a daily walker in this area, it is obvious to me that the McDonalds store will not be at all visible from the school. With this the amount of children who would walk across this intersection would be in the minority seeing the number of car deliveries of children to this school,if the parents of the children in this area would walk their kids to school, it may be a different story

As the person who took this photograph (Sympathetic Portrayal) it is important that it only be used within the context for which it was taken. The photograph was taken to show the impact that a proposed SUPERMARKET would have on this area in 2010 and not in the context of the McDonald's project. It has a partner photograph that you do not show. It has not been used by protestors against McD's. It appears though that this website wishes to distort the truth and use MY photograph to imply some dishonesty by those opposed to the establishment of a McD's in Tecoma. The only dishonesty is by this website.

But of course you won't publish this comment, let alone a retraction.

Dee Jayee (aka David Jewell of TVAG), why is it that this image also appears on James Merlinos webpage in connection with the McDonalds saga? Happy to supply you a screen shot if necessary? I'm thinking you might be telling a few pork pies here Mr Jewell? Care to respond?http://www.jamesmerlino.com.au/news-article/proposed-mcdonalds-in-tecoma/

David, I also forgot to add that Yarra Ranges defended the Supermarket issue in VCAT when forced to make a decision by the developer in 2009. So you've given an incorrect date 2010 not 2009 as the VCAT decision document states, you've claimed this photo has never appeared on any McDonalds related content yet so far we have two examples of undeniable proof this is not the case as you claim. So where is the distortion of truth Mr Jewell? But you know what, I don't expect a reply from you, let alone a retraction. :-)
